These Western states are absolutely beautiful- but they sure are long!

We spent the night in Bismarck which left a few hours drive to get to our show today.  Whenever possible, we like to get as much of the drive out of the way as possible the night before, so that there's no risk of traffic or other delays the next day, and so that we're rested and ready for the show.  But, we got into Bismarck at 6:15 AM, and it was a good stopping point.  The drive to Valley city wasn't bad and was actually quite scenic!

So, we got there and were able to set up quickly.  This meant that we had some extra time backstage, which is always nice.  Here are Silas and Eli relaxing before the show, both of them dressed in their show costumes:

Eli really is a relaxed, easy-going little guy!  But, when you spend all your days being passed around from one sibling to the next, it's no surprise.

The show itself went great and was very well received.  Now, afterwards, we had an occurrence that I've written about multiple times so far, and so I promise I'm not making this up... as we were shaking hands with the audience, a gentleman walked up and told us that one of the tires on our trailer was looking rough.  He explained that he ran a tire shop, he had a tire of that size, and wanted to put the new tire on the rim and get it finished before we were loaded up so as to get us on the road right away.  Can you believe that?  Here's Todd:

He had the new tire mounted and back on the trailer far sooner than we were even ready to load the first case.  I'm constantly in a state of amazement by the absolute generosity that we have been shown on this tour.  Who are we, but just some family that rolls into town with an odd show that we hope people like?  Seriously, DO NOT, for one second, believe the media when they talk about the people around you.

We hit the road and headed for Minnesota.  We've been discovering that it can be interesting to try and find someone for dinner at 9 or 10 PM, so it really pays to plan ahead.  Dinner tonight consisted of a "road traveler's hodge-podge"- Paula, Silas, and Lydia ate from a travel center, while Faith, Clay and I had "Taco John's", a restaurant chain out here that's sort of a Taco Bell/Chipotle hybrid (Chipotle is one of our favorite foods ever, and the nearest one to us would be all the way back in Wyoming- we can't wait to get further East to have it again).

Tomorrow is an early load in.  We have to be at a church in St. Cloud, Minnesota, by 7:30 AM and we've just arrived at the hotel after 4 AM.  So, it's a couple hours sleep again, followed by a show in the morning!

Hey Phil, Glad God is providing your needs on the road! You will be staying with my husband Gary and I when you do your show in NY in Scipio Center. Does your family have any dietary needs I need to be aware of such as allergies to any foods? Any food that you want to say,"please none of this, cause none of us like it"?
Will you need a pack and play set up for your youngest to sleep in or do you have one he is more familiar with? Looking forward to hosting you and your family.
